Tashkent city mayor Shavkat Umurzakov held a crucial meeting with the governor of China's Anhui Province, Wang Qingxian, on January 21, fostering collaboration and dialogue between the two regions, the government portal of Uzbekistan reported.
The Governor of the People's Government of Anhui Province, Wang Qingxian, extended a warm welcome to the Tashkent delegation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between Anhui and Tashkent. During the meeting, he provided an overview of the province's general indicators and assured full support for initiatives and ideas proposed by the city of Tashkent.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov highlighted the favorable conditions established by the leaders of both countries for mutual communication. Notably, he acknowledged the significant contribution of many Chinese enterprises operating in Uzbekistan, particularly in Tashkent, to the economic development of both nations. He emphasized that these enterprises enjoy optimal conditions, with their rights and interests safeguarded by law.
Furthermore, Mayor Umurzakov unveiled several large-scale projects slated for implementation in Tashkent in the coming years. Inviting representatives of the business community from Anhui Province to engage in mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation, he underlined the potential for robust economic collaboration between the two regions.

The discussions, led by Komiljon Karimov, First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, and Hao Ping, Communist Party Secretary of Peking University, focused on a proposal to establish a Peking University branch in Uzbekistan. This initiative aims to significantly contribute to the advancement of qualified personnel training in the region. The talks centered on reinforcing and expanding cooperation in higher education, with Karimov highlighting positive outcomes from Uzbekistan's reforms in the past six years, leading to the establishment of over 30 branches of foreign higher education institutions in the country.
