At the 19th summit of the Non-Aligned Movement held in Kampala, Uganda, the agenda for Uzbekistan's upcoming chairmanship of the organization in 2027-2029 was revealed, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Uzbekistan reports. Representing Uzbekistan at the summit on January 15-20 was the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhromjon Aloyev.
The summit, boasting over 100 state delegations, comprised heads of state, government officials, and foreign affairs representatives and their deputies, creating a platform for extensive discussions on pressing global issues.
During the summit, the participating nations engaged in the exchange of views on prevalent international matters. The focus extended to leveraging the existing potential of the Non-Aligned Movement to foster global peace, stability, and socio-economic development.
Uzbekistan's delegation, led by Aloyev, took the opportunity to express gratitude to fellow member nations for their support of Uzbekistan's candidacy for the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement in the upcoming term spanning 2027-2029. The delegation also extended invitations to summit participants, urging them to witness the profound and swift reforms unfolding across various sectors within Uzbekistan.
Special attention was dedicated to key areas, including the development of cooperation in transport and logistics, enhancements to economic and financial systems, climate change mitigation, and environmental protection. The report emphasized the crucial need for bolstering mutual cooperation and fostering the exchange of experience in science and innovative technologies, with a particular emphasis on supporting the younger generation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the significance of a proposal put forth by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in early March 2023. The proposal involved establishing a specialized monitoring and scientific research network within the Non-Aligned Movement. President Mirziyoyev underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in overcoming complex global challenges. In alignment with this sentiment, Uzbekistan reiterated its commitment to reinforcing the activities of the global platform to achieve the primary goals of the Sendai Hadli program by 2030.
