In a step towards technological collaboration and economic development, the Minister of Digital Technologies in Uzbekistan, Sherzod Shermatov, visited the Pegatron factory, the largest electrical engineering manufacturer in China, the government portal of Uzbekistan reported. The visit aimed to explore opportunities for launching the production of ASUS products in Uzbekistan.
During the tour, Minister Shermatov gained insights into Pegatron's cutting-edge production processes and received information about the company's unique modern technologies. Pegatron is renowned globally as one of China's largest companies, specializing in the manufacture of ASUS electrical products with special technologies.
The subsequent discussion involved key figures from Pegatron and ASUS, including Pegatron General Manager Lin Yongqin, Managing Director Zhu Yuzhen, ASUS Group Computer Technology General Manager Gao Sam, and Zedjian Commercial Bank Chunxin Branch General Manager Wang Yunkun. The focus of the talks revolved around the potential development of ASUS products in Uzbekistan, contemplating the launch of production facilities, training qualified personnel, and exploring options for the preferential purchase of computers.
The collaboration between Pegatron and ASUS could pave the way for increased technological investment in Uzbekistan, providing a boost to the local economy and creating employment opportunities in the tech sector.
Concluding the meeting, it was disclosed that ASUS company representatives expressed their commitment to thoroughly evaluate the suggested avenues for collaboration. Subsequently, they pledged to furnish detailed proposals outlining various forms of cooperation. These proposals will meticulously factor in the potential advantages and opportunities associated with initiating the production of ASUS products within the borders of Uzbekistan.
Pegatron is an industry giant with a workforce of 20,000 employees, including 5,000 qualified researchers. The company produces over 10 electrical engineering products globally and holds a prestigious position in the top 300 companies worldwide. ASUS, under the ASUS Group, is recognized as the second-largest producer of computer products globally, trailing only Apple in terms of product quality. ASUS technologies have also been utilized in high-profile projects, including Tesla cars and the renowned space station "Mir."
Uzbekistan and China have experienced steady growth in trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The bilateral trade turnover increased by 40 percent last year, with China emerging as the top trade partner. Chinese investments in Uzbekistan have surged five-fold, leading to a threefold increase in enterprises with Chinese capital across various sectors. Numerous joint investment projects are underway in high-tech industries, alternative energy, chemistry, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, electrical engineering, and infrastructure modernization.
Under the guidance of Chinese partners, Uzbekistan is making strides in green energy, aiming to generate 27 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2030. Building on this successful collaboration, the Syrdarya region has been chosen as a pilot zone for innovative initiatives, focusing on the establishment of agro-industrial parks, automobile production, and agricultural clusters. This reflects a commitment to advancing economic development and embracing sustainable practices.
