During a visit to the joint-stock company “Uzbekneftegaz” on November 22, the nation’s leader outlined the objectives for developing promising geological sites. The meeting saw the heads of the sector report on the progress of these tasks and present information on the 2024 program for geological exploration and production works.
The work is being conducted in two primary directions: 1) maintaining gas production at existing fields and 2) identifying new reserves. Over recent years, geological research depth has increased from 2-3 km to 4-5 km. This has led to the discovery of new gas reserves and the extraction of an additional 4.4bn cubic meters of this raw material.
An international consulting company has been engaged, aiding in the identification of numerous promising areas. As a continuation of this work, seismic work is planned for next year on an area of 3,500 square km, along with the drilling of new exploration wells.
The meeting also discussed the issue of attracting foreign investment and providing working capital to industry enterprises. The transition to geological drilling to a depth of 6-7 km with the involvement of advanced technologies is under consideration.
The importance of uninterrupted energy supplies and the need to ensure payment discipline in the regions and at large enterprises was emphasised. This is part of a broader strategy to ensure the sustainable development of the nation’s energy sector.
