In discussions held in Dubai with Tanzila Norbaeva, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, a member of the Polish Senate proposed collaborative efforts to address the aftermath of environmental issues, as per the Senate of the Oliy Majlis press service's report.
Tanzila Norbaeva held meetings with members of delegations of European Union parliaments in Dubai, UAE. During the meetings, a member of the Polish Senate proposed the implementation of joint projects to ensure environmental stability in the Aral Bay region.
"The Polish side offered to implement joint projects in cooperation with the European Union's social fund to ensure ecological stability in the Aral Bay region. It was also agreed to exchange experience in establishing forest massifs in areas that are becoming more desertified," the report says.
Representatives of the Austrian parliament also expressed their interest in cooperation with Uzbekistan in the direction of using renewable energy sources, in particular, wind energy. During the meeting with the representative of the Parliament of Romania, it was emphasized to pay attention to aspects such as the exchange of mutual experience in the fields of education, agriculture, and scientific research.
Additionally, the United Nations General Assembly has recognized the Aral Sea tragedy as a current global environmental issue, and Uzbekistan has ratified the Paris Agreement to combat climate change.
