Uzbek athlete Shokhrukh Davlatov has punched his ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics with a stellar performance at the Valencia Marathon, National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan reported.
Running the marathon in 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 2 seconds, he not only beat the Olympic standard record by 1 minute and 8 seconds but also shattered a 38-year-old Uzbekistan record by more than six minutes.
Davlatov, who secured the 18th position in Valencia, attributed his success to two years of intensive training camps in Kenya, home to some of the world's best marathon runners.
His remarkable achievement marks the 15th license for the Uzbekistan delegation for the upcoming Olympics.
Earlier Daryo reported that the Uzbekistan archery team earned a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Paris-2024 license tournament held in Thailand. Ziyodakhon Abdusattorova, competing in the women's singles category, advanced to the final, securing her position for the upcoming Olympics.
