During a meeting with Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov highlighted that approximately 85% of goods traveling from China to Europe pass through Kazakhstan.
The information was conveyed through an official statement on the Kazakh government's website. Smailov further reported a 24% increase in trade volume between the two countries over the first ten months of this year.
“Over 10 months, mutual trade grew by another 24%. I believe that at this pace we will soon be able to achieve the goal of increasing trade turnover to $40 billion, outlined by the heads of the two states,” said the Prime Minister.
The recently established visa-free regime, effective from November 10, was emphasized by the Prime Minister as a transformative step in Kazakhstan-China relations. Smailov expressed optimism about the regime's potential to significantly boost business ties, simplify trade procedures, foster mutual investments, and promote tourism. He particularly highlighted the relevance of these developments in the context of the upcoming tourism year dedicated to Kazakhstan in China.
“China and Kazakhstan are close neighbors, true friends and partners. Currently, both countries are at a key stage in their development and revival. Amid unprecedented change, China and Kazakhstan face greater challenges. Therefore, we must, in a spirit of cooperation, enhance mutual support on all key issues. The Chinese side will, as before, firmly support Kazakhstan and all efforts aimed at development and prosperity,” said Ding Xuexiang, the Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China.
