In a move to enhance collaboration in the transport sector, the control bodies of Uzbekistan and Russia have inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The Ministry of Transport's press service reports this development, highlighting the signing during Transport Week 2023.
The Federal Service for Control in the Transport Sector of Russia and the Transport Control Inspection under the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan are set to foster cooperation in road and railway transport, as disclosed in the signed memorandum. The agreement was formalized by Jamshid Karimov, the head of the transport control inspection, and Viktor Basargin, the head of Rostransnadzor.
Key areas of collaboration outlined in the memorandum include the exchange of enforcement practices, sharing information on violations related to road safety and railway transport usage, and embracing digitization and modern technologies. This strategic partnership aims to bolster the efficiency and regulatory practices in the transport domain, fostering stronger ties between Uzbekistan and Russia.
Earlier Daryo reported that as Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan have commenced, it led to a reconfiguration of gas flows in the Russian gas transportation system. Igor Safonov, General Director of Gazprom UGS, highlighted the adjustments necessary for this new phase, emphasizing the switch of the Central Asia - Center gas transportation system into reverse mode.
