The United Nations member states recently passed a resolution condemning Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, deeming them illegal. This measure garnered support from 145 countries, including Uzbekistan.
However, only seven countries, namely the USA, Canada, Israel, Hungary, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Nauru, opposed the resolution. Additionally, 18 countries abstained from voting, while 21 countries did not cast a vote.
The UN resolution underlines deep concerns about the distressing conditions prevailing in the occupied Palestinian territories, specifically East Jerusalem, due to Israel's unlawful activities. It calls for an immediate cessation of all illegal Israeli settlements, the construction of the wall, and the lifting of the Gaza Strip blockade.
The resolution urges an end to excessive and indiscriminate use of force against civilians, cessation of military operations, settler violence, and provocations against sacred sites. Additionally, it demands a halt to property destruction and confiscation, the forced displacement of civilians, evictions, and arrests or detentions of numerous civilians, as well as any collective punishment against the Palestinian population.
Additionally, all Central Asian countries voted the same as Uzbekistan, they supported the condemnation of Israel.
