On October 27, the heads of diplomatic missions from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and Israel in Uzbekistan visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They discussed various matters, including the current situation in Gaza.
Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, in his Telegram channel, emphasized the need for both parties to halt the armed conflict. He stressed that the conflict has led to thousands of civilian casualties, including children, and urged the use of diplomatic means and adherence to international law norms for finding a resolution.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly refused to sign a final plan for a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip, despite the Israeli military's preparation. One reason for his refusal is the desire for unanimous approval from the emergency government, which includes opposition representatives. Netanyahu fears that independently endorsing the plan could lead to public trust erosion and accusations if it fails.
The situation has led to mutual suspicion between Netanyahu and the military, with political authorities banning recording devices in army command meetings, possibly to hinder future investigations. Disagreements have emerged regarding the objectives of the war, particularly related to the rescue of hostages. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's public statement that the army had not included hostage rescue in its objectives further highlighted the differences. There are also differing opinions on when and how to commence the invasion.
A majority of Israelis, around 80 percent, support holding Netanyahu accountable for the Hamas assault on the country, according to a poll conducted by the "Maariv" newspaper.
On October 9, the Uzbekistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed concerns over the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They called upon the involved parties to take all necessary steps to promptly cease the armed confrontation and resolve the crisis through political and diplomatic channels. Uzbekistan also strongly condemned the airstrike on the "Al-Ahli" hospital in Gaza, considering it a severe breach of international humanitarian law.
