The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports that its head, Rashid Meredov, has received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan, Hiroshi Sasaki.
During the meeting the sides discussed the current bilateral agenda. Priorities for cooperation were identified in the fields of energy, transport and communications, industry, agriculture, environmental protection and the study of the Japanese language in Turkmenistan.
Experts told Daryo that the impetus for business cooperation between the two countries was given by the official visit of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Ashgabat in October 2015, which resulted in the conclusion of investment agreements worth $18bn.
Japanese companies have implemented large-scale projects in the gas chemical industry and gas turbine power generation, as well as supplied specialised equipment for projects in the fuel and energy complex, transport and water management.
