An earthquake with an average magnitude of 4.4 occurred in Mary region of Turkmenistan on 6 November at about 4 am local time, Volcano Discovery reports.
The origin of the tremors was at a shallow depth of 10 km, 78 km from Tedzhen and 88 km from Mary.
The region is home to one of the world's largest gas fields, Galkynysh, and the Ancient Merv archaeological reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
