Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry says its head Rashid Meredov has accepted copies of credentials from newly appointed Iranian Ambassador Ali Mojtaba Roozbahani.
The diplomat previously headed his country's missions in the Philippines and Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, key areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed. Fuel and energy complex, transport and logistics, chemical industry, industry, agriculture, ecology and environmental issues were identified as promising aspects.
"There was an exchange of views on topical issues of global and regional politics".
The two countries are neighbours on the Caspian Sea and share a 1,148 km land border.
Experts told Daryo that Iran and Turkmenistan have jointly implemented a number of major projects. In addition to cross-border gas pipelines and power lines, the Dostluk (Friendship) dam and the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran transnational railway have been built through joint efforts.
