During the Uzbek-French business forum held as part of French President Emmanuel Macron's official visit to Uzbekistan, the Business Development Bank (JSCB) and the French Development Agency signed a significant cooperation agreement aimed at fostering women's entrepreneurship development. The agreement involves the allocation of €30 mn in credit funds.
The signing ceremony took place on November 2, highlighting the growing economic ties between Uzbekistan and France. Under the agreement, both parties have committed to establishing a strategic partnership in various areas of mutual interest, including women's entrepreneurship, renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and the training and professional development of Business Development Bank employees.
The comprehensive collaboration between the French Development Agency and Uzbekistan began during the President of Uzbekistan's official visit to Paris in November 2022. During that visit, the Government of Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency signed the "Program of Strategic Cooperation until 2025." This program outlines joint projects in sectors such as agriculture, energy, green economy, urban development, water supply, banking and finance, and transportation.
Established in 1941, the French Development Agency is a public financial institution headquartered in Paris. With 85 foreign missions, the agency is dedicated to advancing over 4,000 projects in France's overseas territories and 115 countries worldwide. Its activities focus on important areas such as climate change, biodiversity, gender equality, education, and health.
