Following their discussions in Samarkand, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emmanuel Macron have jointly endorsed a statement, the president's press service reports. The document underscores the commitment of both countries to elevate their bilateral relations to the status of a strategic partnership.
The present state of bilateral cooperation and the potential for enhancing interstate ties across various sectors were assessed. It was reaffirmed that both parties are dedicated to strengthening their collaboration within international organizations and working collectively to address current global and regional challenges.
During the meeting, eight bilateral agreements spanning finance, education, culture, and other areas of mutual cooperation were signed in the presence of the two presidents. These include:
- An intergovernmental agreement concerning the establishment and operation of the Samarkand French Alliance and its activities.
- Intergovernmental financial agreements pertaining to the enhancement of drinking water supply infrastructure in Uzbekistan (phases 1 and 2).
- A declaration outlining modifications and additions to the intergovernmental agreement on the creation and functioning of the French Development Agency and PROPARKO in Uzbekistan.
- A declaration on cooperation between the foreign affairs ministries regarding diplomatic personnel training.
- A protocol on cooperation in preschool, school, professional, and higher education.
- A declaration on cooperation in the realm of cultural heritage.
- An agreement on cooperation in the field of professional and technical education.
Furthermore, as part of the visit, declarations of cooperation were signed between the Culture and Art Development Fund of Uzbekistan and SUEZ and Bouygues companies.
