A private meeting between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and France took place in Samarkand on November 2, followed by extended negotiations involving their official delegations.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who initiated the meeting, expressed his appreciation to the French President for leading a prominent delegation, comprised of government officials, leaders from major companies, and well-known cultural and scientific figures, to Uzbekistan. He viewed this as a clear indication of France's commitment to the advancement and reinforcement of the multifaceted and friendly relations between the two nations.
"This is a clear confirmation of your personal attention and special approach to the further development and strengthening of Uzbek-French friendly and multifaceted cooperative relations," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the discussions, President Mirziyoyev highlighted key areas of cooperation, which included developing the mining sector, processing strategic raw materials, constructing hybrid, solar, and wind power plants, modernizing water supply systems, implementing smart agriculture practices, enhancing urban and transportation infrastructure, and promoting tourism.
In a bid to stimulate business collaboration, it was announced that the Uzbekistan-France Chamber of Commerce would be established, along with the opening of a Business France office in Tashkent. To further deepen ties in the humanitarian realm, both parties proposed adopting a three-year program and organizing mutual Culture Days.
The meeting also saw the inauguration of a branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand and a commitment to expedite the establishment of a joint higher education institution. An initiative was presented to devise a program that would facilitate increased tourist exchange by organizing charter flights from various cities in France to destinations like Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva.
