The government of Kazakhstan has pledged $1mn in aid to support the Palestinian people. The announcement was made by President Kasim-Jomart Tokayev during the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Astana on November 3.
Addressing the attendees, President Tokayev emphasized the urgent need for increased mediation in a world grappling with complex conflicts. He highlighted ongoing issues in different regions, such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict in the north, the Israel-Palestine conflict in the Middle East, instability in Afghanistan, and the worsening problem of illegal migration in the West.
Particularly concerning to the President was the plight of civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly who have been caught in the crossfire of conflicts. He stressed the paramount importance of ensuring their safety.
In this context, President Tokayev announced the allocation of $1mn in humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. He expressed Kazakhstan's strong commitment to resolving conflicts through peaceful negotiations and diplomatic dialogue, firmly condemning violence and terrorist activities.
"Kazakhstan strongly condemns such methods. The escalation of the situation can have serious consequences. In this regard, we call for the resolution of any disputes only through peaceful negotiations and diplomatic dialogue. For us, maintaining the territorial integrity of all countries and not interfering in their internal affairs are the main priorities. It is important to strictly implement the resolutions of the UN Security Council, to observe international law norms," President Tokayev affirmed.
The President stressed the importance of unity among Turkic countries and mutual assistance to effectively combat the dangers and threats facing the world. He mentioned that the summit would result in significant decisions and the signing of several crucial documents aimed at furthering the prosperity of the Turkic world and strengthening the unity of member countries. These measures are expected to enhance regional cooperation and bolster the organization's prestige.
