The Ministers of Transport from Uzbekistan and Turkey, Ilkhom Makhkamov and Abdulkadir Uraloglu, convened on November 1 to discuss the ongoing cooperation in the realm of transport and logistics. Their meeting aimed to explore the potential for elevating this collaboration to new heights.
A prominent point of discussion was the facilitation of cargo transportation within road transport and the integration of digital technologies into the industry. These advancements have notably benefited national carriers, with the introduction of the E-Permit digital permit exchange program in 2022 drawing significant attention not only from neighboring countries but also from distant foreign nations.
Statistics reveal that, up to September of the current year, a total of 710,900 tons of various goods were transported via road between Uzbekistan and Turkey. This figure represents a notable increase of 32.8% compared to the preceding period.
The expansion of civil aviation cooperation is another significant outcome of this bilateral collaboration. The number of mutual air traffic operations has surged to 55 flights per week, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations in the realm of aviation.
Concluding the meeting, both parties reached a consensus to establish transport-logistics centers and joint enterprises specializing in cargo transportation. The integration of modern digital information technologies into the railway and public transport sectors was also discussed, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing the skillsets of transportation sector personnel and improving road construction techniques.
Moreover, the ministers expressed their dedication to further strengthening their relationship with a focus on launching infrastructure projects and implementing joint initiatives within the framework of public-private partnerships (PPP) in the aviation sector.
