On October 25, President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic warmly welcomed the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Jalil Abbas Jilani, who arrived in the country to participate in a meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
During the meeting, the leaders engaged in a productive exchange of views, discussing the current state and the future potential of Kyrgyz-Pakistani bilateral cooperation. President Japarov highlighted the significant role Pakistan plays in international and regional relations, emphasizing Kyrgyzstan's keen interest in expanding cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral contexts.
President Japarov underscored the continuous growth of relations between the two nations, citing participation in global organizations such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development as evidence of their shared commitment to collaboration on various fronts.
One of the key topics of discussion was the enhancement of mutual trade. President Japarov expressed his eagerness to diversify the import-export activities between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan. He also expressed interest in actively engaging with Pakistani investors on promising projects. These endeavors aim to unlock the full potential of economic cooperation between the two countries.
In response, Pakistan's Foreign Minister, Jalil Abbas Jilani, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and conveyed warm greetings from Pakistan's President Arif Alvi and acting Prime Minister Anwar ul-Haq Kakar to President Japarov. Jilani, who was on his second visit to Kyrgyzstan, acknowledged the substantial positive changes that have occurred in the country under President Japarov's leadership.
Minister Jilani expressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations across a wide range of areas that hold mutual interest for both nations. Furthermore, he extended an invitation to President Sadyr Japarov to visit Pakistan at a time that suits his schedule, emphasizing the desire to host the Kyrgyz leader.
