In a significant diplomatic encounter, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov, welcomed the Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (PRC), Li Qiang, on October 25. Li Qiang's visit marked his first official trip to Kyrgyzstan, undertaken in conjunction with the Council of Heads of Government meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states.
During the meeting, the two leaders engaged in substantive discussions, spanning a broad spectrum of topics relating to bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China. President Japarov, extending his warm welcome to the Chinese Premier, reminisced about his fruitful state visit to China and the productive negotiations held with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which had culminated in elevating Kyrgyz-Chinese relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in a new era.
Highlighting the significant intensification of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations in recent years, President Japarov drew attention to the vibrant dynamics of mutual visits between the two countries at various levels. These interactions have not only fortified the bonds of good neighborliness and cooperation but have also bolstered the mutual trust that forms the bedrock of their partnership.
The President underlined the pivotal role of trade and economic cooperation in their relations. For several years, China has stood as one of Kyrgyzstan's primary trade and investment partners. Notably, President Japarov emphasized the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, a major joint venture between the two nations, which promises to be a critical component in strengthening cooperation in the transport and logistics sector. He also expressed optimism regarding energy cooperation, given the shared border, and the possibility of attracting Chinese investment for renewable energy projects.
In response, Premier Li Qiang expressed gratitude for the warm reception of the Chinese delegation and voiced hope that this official visit would further solidify and deepen bilateral cooperation and neighborly relations. He highlighted the successful outcome of President Japarov's previous visit to China, which had elevated the partnership to a new level.
Li Qiang conveyed China's recognition of Kyrgyzstan as an important and reliable neighbor. During his visit to Kyrgyzstan, he took note of the positive transformations occurring in the country, particularly the ongoing reforms initiated by President Sadyr Japarov. These reforms are directed at achieving sustainable economic and social development and enhancing national security.
The Chinese Premier reiterated the importance that China places on its relationship with Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence that, under the leadership of the two countries' respective leaders, effective and multifaceted strategic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China will continue to grow.
