On October 20, as part of the international week of innovative ideas "InnoWeek.Uz-2023," an insightful and forward-looking meeting of experts, "VISION-2050," unfolded on the vibrant canvas of Tashkent. The event was orchestrated under the leadership of Shakhlo Turdikulova, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Erbol Suleimenov, Chairman of the International Expert Council of the World Bank project "Modernization of the National Innovation System of Uzbekistan."
The meeting of experts, a pivotal gathering in the sphere of innovation, was brought to fruition through the collaboration of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of Uzbekistan in partnership with the World Bank.
This convocation of minds played host to a diverse array of experts representing an expansive spectrum of fields, including science, commercialization, venture capital, publishing, investment, and business. International organizations such as the World Bank (WB), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and the European Union (EU) lent their significant presence to the event. Notably, in addition to the local experts, insights and experiences from various countries like the United States, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel, and the United Kingdom were fervently exchanged.
The central objective of this assembly was to chart a course towards the long-term advancement of higher education, science, and innovation in the Republic of Uzbekistan. In pursuit of this goal, a comprehensive matrix was utilized to collect and analyze proposals encompassing various areas such as education, science, innovation, financing, digitalization, international cooperation, and market/industry domains.
The outcome of these stimulating discussions culminated in the creation of an analytical report. This report details strategic initiatives crafted to elevate the quality of scientific research, innovation, and higher education within the nation. The proposed initiatives are categorized into three fundamental areas of development: higher education, science, and innovation. Additionally, these initiatives encompass closely interlinked aspects, including financing, digitalization, international development, and collaborative efforts with industry stakeholders.
