The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) says it handed over the equipment to the State Border Service of Turkmenistan to strengthen the capacities of the border checkpoints Imamnazar and Serhetabat (on the border with Afghanistan) and Farap (Uzbekistan).
Yakub Akmuradov, a representative of the Turkmen side, said that establishment of interactive classes at remote border crossing points and equipping them with cutting-edge conference equipment Cisco allowed to connect them to the Central Office.
UNODC recently convened the meeting of the working group established within the project representing the State Border Service, State Customs Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan. . The parties agreed upon plans for the next six months.
Turkmenistan's border with Uzbekistan is the longest among its neighbours - about 1,700km. The common border with Afghanistan is more than 800km.
