An agreement to establish a Russian-Turkmen University is expected to be signed soon, the Russian government reports. This was announced by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, who is on a visit to Ashgabat.
"Negotiations are under way today - we hope that in the very near future we will determine the range of specialities in which students will be trained in Turkmenistan. There will be Russian teachers". The university will be provided with advanced educational programmes, he said.
Overchuk visited the international exhibition "Health, Education and Sport in the Era of Revival" in Ashgabat.
Local experts told Daryo that Turkmenistan is interested in training technical and medical specialists, as well as in digitalisation.
A joint Russian-Turkmen secondary school named after Pushkin has been operating in the Turkmen capital for more than two decades. At the same time, more than 30,000 students from Turkmenistan are studying in Russia.
