On October 1, the Uzbekistan youth (Olympic) football team secured a hard-fought victory over the Saudi Arabian team with a final score of 2:1 at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
The scoring was opened in the 24th minute after the Uzbeks took the ball in the opposing half of the field, and midfielder Saizamat Mirsaidov completed the attack with a goal. At the end of the first half, goalkeeper Vladimir Nazarov scored an assist. In the 44th minute, he kicked the ball forward, the opponents in the center of the field were unable to handle the ball, striker Alisher Odilov accelerated, beat the goalkeeper and scored a goal.
In the second half, Saudi Arabia's striker Mohammed Maran reduced the difference in the score, but Uzbekistan survived and made it to the semi-finals of the Asian Games for the first time since 1994. Then the national team beat China in the final and became the winner of the Asian Games.
Head coach Timur Kapadze's team will play in the semifinals with the winner of the China-South Korea pair.
