The Road Traffic Safety Service of Uzbekistan has announced a new measure to enhance traffic safety. As of October 3, traffic cameras have been equipped to detect drivers who are not using seatbelts, and fines will be issued automatically.
Article 125 of the Code of Administrative Liability of the Republic of Uzbekistan stipulates that drivers who do not comply with seatbelt regulations will be subject to a penalty of UZS 165,000, which is equivalent to one second of the basic calculation value.
Besides, front-seat passengers, with the exception of pregnant women, individuals with medical conditions that prohibit seatbelt use (with medical documentation), and certain officials, are also subject to fines.
The passengers cannot be fined as identification is required. However, Uzbekistan plans to soon implement mandatory seatbelt use for passengers in the rear seats of the vehicle. It is essential to wear seatbelts in the front seat as they can prevent or reduce injuries in cases of accidents or sudden braking. Failure to use a seatbelt can result in passengers being ejected from the car or colliding with other objects inside the vehicle, which can lead to severe injuries or even death. Additionally, fastening a seatbelt in the front seat helps to maintain control over the body during abrupt braking, preventing head-to-steering, dashboard, or other car parts collisions.
Many countries require the use of seatbelts in the front seat, and non-compliance with this rule may result in fines or other legal consequences. The proper use of seat belts demonstrates a sense of responsibility and concern for one's safety and the safety of passengers. It is essential to wear seatbelts correctly, ensuring that they go across the shoulders, chest, and hips, and not under the arms or behind the back. Similarly, children must use appropriate car seats or devices based on their age and weight to ensure maximum safety.
