Towards the end of this year, Tashkent is set to host a prestigious global award ceremony recognizing accomplishments in the battle against corruption, a commendable initiative founded by the Emir of Qatar.
As disclosed by the Presidential press service, this global accolade for anti-corruption achievements was instituted by the Emir of Qatar and is scheduled for its upcoming award ceremony in Tashkent at the close of this year. Notably, Qatar's leadership is anticipated to attend this significant event.
Sherzod Asadov remarked, "The selection of Tashkent as the venue for this award ceremony symbolizes the international community's acknowledgment of the remarkable efforts and reforms spearheaded by our president in the ongoing anti-corruption campaign."
Qatar boasts the world's third-largest reserves of natural gas, an impressive per capita GDP of $104,000, a population of 2.7mn, and an annual GDP of $274bn. Recent years have witnessed substantial growth in Uzbekistan's relations with Qatar, marking a promising new phase in their partnership.
Recent Advancements in Bilateral Ties
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's recent visit to Qatar resulted in several important agreements and events. The president held talks with representatives of three Qatari companies, namely, Power International Holding, Nebras Power, and Al Mirqab Capital. He also participated in discussions with the Emir of Qatar and then they signed nine documents to enhance cooperation.
The president later participated in EXPO Doha - 2023, after which he met with the former Premier Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani to talk about further enhancement of mutually advantageous cooperation between prominent Uzbekistani companies and establishments and their Qatari counterparts.
