Turkmenistan celebrates the 32nd anniversary of its independence on 27 September. A military parade and air show were held in Ashgabat in the morning, and a review of warships was held in the Caspian Sea. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter to his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
"On this festive day, I would like to once again note the stable development in all spheres in recent years of the neighbouring state - Turkmenistan, which, having preserved its rich cultural and historical heritage, customs and traditions, has taken a worthy place in the international community."
The message says that through joint efforts, the multifaceted constructive relations between the two brotherly countries, based on mutual understanding and support for each other, will continue to develop rapidly in all directions.
"As a time-tested close friend and reliable partner, we are immensely pleased that the large-scale constructive work and systemic reforms carried out in your country are bearing their wonderful fruits."
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, which share a 1,650km border, signed a Declaration last year to deepen their strategic partnership. The countries are expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, transit, logistics and energy.
