Kazakhstan's Ministry of Agriculture has implemented a ban on importing wheat from other countries, as reported by EurAsiaDaily. This ban will last for six months, beginning on October 11, 2023, and will apply to wheat imported by road from third countries and from countries in the Eurasian Economic Union.
Importing wheat by rail from third countries and EAEU countries will also be prohibited, with the exception of licensed elevators, grain processors, and poultry enterprises. The order was put into effect on September 26, 2023, with the exception of the aforementioned paragraph, which will take effect on October 11, 2023.
Earlier, Daryo reported that on September 22, Kyrgyzstan's Cabinet of Ministers implemented a six-month temporary ban on the export of wheat, meslin, and wheat flour. The aim of this measure is to guarantee the country's food supply and stabilize prices for food products in the market. The Ministry of Agriculture in Kyrgyzstan suggested a temporary embargo on flour and grain exportation due to a notable price surge within the country.
