President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov has arrived in New York (USA), Altyn Asyr TV reports.
According to the report, the head of state will take part in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly and the C5+1 summit in the Central Asia-USA format. Bilateral meetings are planned, including with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
New initiatives of Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening international cooperation in areas such as energy, transport, ecology and climate change, humanitarian sphere will be announced from the UN rostrum.
According to the Turkmenistan's foreign ministry, Ashgabat is taking the initiative to establish a format for the UN Conference on Security in Central Asia and its neighbouring zones.
In view of the growing crisis in the supply of energy resources to the world markets, instability in relations between suppliers, transit countries and consumers, Turkmenistan will propose to hold an international forum "Sustainable Energy for All" in 2025.
Turkmenistan will take the initiative to prepare a draft resolution on "Strengthening the links between all modes of transport to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals".
Turkmenistan will propose the development of a strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and the establishment of a UN Regional Centre for Climate Change Technologies in Central Asia.
Proposals for the establishment of the Caspian Environmental Initiative and the UN Council on water use issues in Central Asia will also be put forward in New York.
In addition, Turkmenistan will propose the development and adoption of a "Treaty on a death penalty-free zone in Central Asia and Mongolia".
