Turkmenistan is ready to supply its natural gas and electricity to Central Asian countries and through their territories to foreign markets on mutually beneficial terms and on a long-term basis.
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said this at the Fifth Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, the Turkmen State Agency reports.
Berdimuhamedov called for the creation of an energy dialogue among Central Asian countries. He said: "The region is currently in the process of creating the political, legal and economic conditions for a sustainable energy partnership aimed at both meeting intra-regional demand and accessing world markets through international transit corridors.
Turkmenistan, which has the world's fourth-largest gas reserves, sells the fuel to China, Russia, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. Electricity is imported by Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
