At the Shotokan Karate World Championships held in Tashkent from 8 to 10 September, Turkmenistan's athletes won a total of 72 medals of various merit.
The national team of Turkmenistan won 13 gold, 20 silver and 39 bronze medals, the international information portal of Turkmenistan reports.
About two thousand karate fighters from thirty countries competed for medals at the world tournament for adult athletes, as well as cadets, juniors and athletes under 21.
The previous championship was held a year ago in Pardubice, Czech Republic. The national team of Turkmenistan won a total of 102 medals of various merits and 2 awards in the "Grand Champions" category.
