Turkmenistan is in talks with Russia regarding the transportation of grain crops from southern Russian regions across the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf nations and other markets, the administration of the international Caspian Sea port in Turkmenbashi reports.
Incoming cargo is usually distributed between two terminals for general cargo and bulk cargo. Grain crops are separated in special silos before being shipped to their final destination.
Sorting of wheat in the port of Turkmenbashi is also done utilizing the assistance of national fleet vessels "Makhtumkuli", "Turkmenistan" and "Balkan".
The information further states that over 12,000 tonnes of winter wheat seeds were received in August from Astrakhan, Russia, to cater to the agricultural needs of Turkmenistan.
Experts informed Daryo that the "Alekseich" and "Bezostaya" seed varieties, known for their high yields and resilience to cold and drought, will be utilised for the current sowing campaign. The aim is to harvest 1.4mn tonnes of wheat this year.
