The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbayeva, conducted a high-level meeting with the Chairperson of the Republican Council of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Natalya Kochanova, in Minsk. The meeting showcased the continuous strengthening of relations between Uzbekistan and Belarus, with both countries expressing their commitment to developing their ties further within an atmosphere of mutual trust.
International parliamentary cooperation
The meeting emphasized the active cooperation between the two countries' parliamentary representatives within international parliamentary organizations, including the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Proposals for future collaboration
Several proposals were discussed during the meeting:
Mutual experience exchange: Both parties expressed interest in sharing experiences in the field of law-making, gender, and youth policy.
Regional forum: A proposal was made to deepen regional relations through the organization of a regional forum.
Digital development: Cooperation in the digital development of regions was also suggested.
To ensure the binding nature of agreements reached between the two countries, it was agreed to establish a legal framework within the parliamentary activities of both nations.
The meeting concluded with optimism that the signing of a memorandum on cooperation between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Republican Council of the National Assembly would elevate relations to new heights.
Women's entrepreneurship and economic relations
The importance of developing women's entrepreneurship was a focal point of discussion. It was noted that an upcoming forum would serve as a platform to discuss and propose measures for strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries. The forum's final document, or declaration, is expected to pave the way for new joint business projects involving businesswomen from both nations.
Following the discussions, a formal ceremony was held for the signing of documents related to bilateral cooperation. Notable agreements included those between the Republican Council of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as cooperation between the Youth Council under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis. Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Republican Public Association "Belarusian Women's Union" and Uzbekistan's Family and Women's Committee under the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Employment.
