Recent data from the Statistics Agency of Uzbekistan reveals a significant increase in the net income of small enterprises and micro-firms managed by female managers in the country. As of January 1, 2023, these enterprises generated substantial economic growth, with net income amounting to 31.8tn soums (over $2.6bn)
The net income of small enterprises and micro-firms managed by female leaders exhibited remarkable growth, with an increase of nearly 9.2tn soums (over $757mn) when compared to the same period in the previous year. This substantial increase highlights the economic significance of women-led businesses and their contribution to the nation's financial prosperity.
Number of enterprises managed by female leaders
As of January 1, 2023, Uzbekistan recorded a total of 39,078 small enterprises and micro-firms managed by female leaders. This figure underscores the substantial presence of women in managerial roles within the country's business sector. The growing number of female leaders indicates an encouraging trend towards gender diversity and inclusivity in the entrepreneurial landscape.
The increase in net income and the number of enterprises under female management in Uzbekistan emphasizes the pivotal role of women in driving economic growth and fostering innovation.
Earlier Daryo rerpoted that comprehensive educational program, designed by UN experts and collaborators, covers a six-month duration and represents the inaugural specialized educational initiative for Central Asia. It is open to businesses located in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The course will be conducted in the Russian language and is scheduled to begin in October. Importantly, it is provided at no cost to UN Global Compact members and includes extensive support offered in Russian, Kazakh, and Uzbek languages.
