From January to July, Uzbekistan imported nearly 1.9mn mobile phones, as reported by the State Statistics Committee. This marks a 24% increase from the same period in the previous year, with an additional 365,800 phones brought in.
The total value of imports reached $130mn, showing a 37.8% rise from last year's figure.
China continues to be the top provider of cell phones, with imports nearly doubling since the beginning of the year to 1.7mn units. Around 300,000 units were imported in July.
Vietnam is in second place with 189,200 devices, 25% less than last year. Over the past month, over 39,000 devices were brought into the local market.
The number of gadgets imported from India has significantly decreased, with only 14,300 imported in seven months compared to 48,600 the previous year. In July, deliveries almost completely stopped.
Kazakhstan follows with 2,400 phones, which has remained unchanged for a month (last year, there were 45,000). Lastly, the "white" import of mobile phones from the UAE fell 78 times, reaching 1,900.
