An international collaborative meeting took place at the Ministry of Internal Affairs building, involving the Anti-Trafficking Department of the Criminal Investigation Service of the Republic of Tajikistan and delegates from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as well as the Winrock International Agricultural Development Institute, the ministry's press service reports.
During the meeting, USAID presented the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its regional divisions with a range of office equipment, including computers, laptops, printers, projectors, and wall screens. The total value of this equipment is estimated at around $50,000. This initiative is aimed at establishing a centralized information system to effectively manage data related to crimes associated with human trafficking. The primary objective is to enhance the operational efficiency of the information database.
Moreover, the unified centralized information system will incorporate details about the assistance services extended to victims of human trafficking. By incorporating these particulars, it becomes possible to identify gaps in the support services and subsequently formulate well-informed suggestions for refining the aid provided to trafficking victims.
This support effort falls within the scope of the "Safe Migration in Central Asia" (SMICA) project. The project is being carried out by Winrock International, a subsidiary of the Institute for International Agricultural Development.
Recent reports also indicated the appointment of a new leader for the USAID mission in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, USAID recognized and rewarded the winners of a student competition centered on environmental concepts in Tashkent. Additionally, the USAID agency orchestrated the delivery of 131 tons of food aid to Uzbekistan.
