During a meeting overseen by the president, a decision was reached to curtail the number of subjects taught in the higher grades, reducing them from 16 to 11, the president's press reports.
In the 10th and 11th grades, students aspiring to pursue higher education will be provided with a more comprehensive study of specific subjects. The options available for specialization include "chemistry-biology," "mathematics-physics," "mathematics-foreign language," and "native language-literature-foreign language." This approach allows students to delve deeper into their chosen field of interest. Additionally, those students with ambitions of becoming professionals will be afforded the opportunity to attain specialized skills directly within the school system.
To initiate this initiative, the Ministry of Pre-School and School Education has been directed to introduce the program in 135 schools that display the potential and readiness for its implementation starting in September. Subsequently, this system will be expanded to encompass at least a thousand schools beginning in the subsequent academic year.
The modification of the curriculum will also encompass a change in the lesson content. Computer literacy classes will be introduced from the 1st grade, aiming to equip students with essential technological skills from an early age. Furthermore, financial literacy classes will be introduced in the upper grades to foster a better understanding of economic concepts.
Moreover, a substantial budget allocation of 920 billion soums has been dedicated to school textbooks for this year. These funds have facilitated the development of entirely new textbooks for primary-level classes. Notably, the printing of the second part of these newly developed textbooks for primary grades has been commissioned for full production.
