Russia's Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) is contemplating commencing the assembly of cars within Uzbekistan. To facilitate this, the Chirchik technopark in the Tashkent region is being considered as a potential site.
The technopark's press service disclosed that representatives from UAZ have conveyed their intentions to initiate car assembly operations in Uzbekistan and are actively evaluating the suitability of various areas within the technopark.
Reports indicate that representatives from the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant recently visited the Chirchik chemical-industrial technological park on August 21. During their visit, they displayed keen interest in the prospect of car assembly operations. The guests were introduced to the technological park's activities and were briefed about the advantages extended to investors who obtained resident status.
The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) was founded in 1941 and specializes in manufacturing all-wheel drive light and low-tonnage passenger vehicles under the UAZ brand. Since the year 2000, it has been a constituent of the Sollers automobile concern.
Several years back, Alexei Zabolotnov, the head of UAZ's CIS department, expressed the company's plan to initiate UAZ car production in Uzbekistan. During an exhibition held in Tashkent, Zabolotnov praised Uzbekistan's favorable conditions for the automobile business, highlighting the nation's robust potential in this sector.
