Uzbekistan's foreign minister Bakhtiyor Saidov received copies of credentials of newly appointed Turkmenistan's ambassador Shadurdy Meredov.
During the meeting, it was noted that relations between the two countries have expanded to an unprecedented level in recent years, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a press release. "It was stated that a number of positive tangible results have been achieved in various fields and concrete ambitious plans for the future have been set."

The Turkmen diplomat had previously headed his country's embassy in Kyrgyzstan since 2016.
The 1,650-km border with Uzbekistan is Turkmenistan's longest. Last year, trade turnover between the countries increased to $902mn, five times more than in 2017.
Uzbekistan not only buys Turkmen energy resources, but is also an important transit country through which two main gas pipelines pass, thanks to which Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China and Russia.
