The British company Block Energy is developing hydrocarbon deposits 15 kilometers from Georgia's capital, Tbilisi.
The Deputy Minister of Economy, Romeo Mikautadze, has reported that "production volumes have doubled".
Technological methods of horizontal drilling of wells have been used to efficiently extract oil and gas at the field near the village of Mtisdziri, where five of the six planned horizontal wells have already been drilled.
The gas reserves at this field, explored in 2022, are estimated at 16bn cubic meters.
Block Energy is engaged in the exploration and development of deposits and acquired two fields in Georgia in 2020, Block IX and Block XIB, which is considered the richest, producing 180mn barrels of oil.
