    Uzbekistan's president to visit Hungary

    Uzbekistan's president to visit Hungary

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is set to embark on a working visit to Budapest on August 19-20, responding to an invitation from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The president's press service made the announcement on August 18, detailing the objectives of the visit.

During his stay, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to engage in talks with Prime Minister Orban, focusing on matters of bilateral cooperation between the two nations. This meeting is expected to provide an opportunity to deliberate on various areas of collaboration, fostering ties and expanding the scope of partnership.

A key highlight of the visit will be President Mirziyoyev's participation as a guest of honor in the commemoration of Hungary's national holiday, St. Stephen's Day. This underscores the warm diplomatic relations and shared respect between Uzbekistan and Hungary.

In addition to the festivities, President Mirziyoyev will also attend the men's final of the World Championships in Athletics, an event of global significance taking place in Budapest.

This visit follows President Mirziyoyev's official trip to Hungary on October 3-4, 2022, which paved the way for strengthened bilateral relations. Notably, in March, the Embassy of Uzbekistan was inaugurated in Budapest, further deepening the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Budapest is expected to host various world leaders during the World Championships in Athletics, which spans nine days. Among the dignitaries are the Emir of Qatar and the presidents of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan. Additionally, leaders from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina are also anticipated to attend.

Earlier Daryo reported that the Prime Minister of Hungary extended congratulations to the President of Uzbekistan for his triumph in the early presidential elections, expressing wishes for tranquility and prosperity among the Uzbek populace. The commendable progress in Uzbek-Hungarian relations across diverse sectors was acknowledged, including consistent political dialogues and the establishment of the Uzbekistan embassy in Budapest.
