The trial regarding the "Dok-1 Max" case, which is believed to be connected to the deaths of 65 children, has commenced in Uzbekistan. The court session was adjourned until August 18.
The court continues its proceedings following a brief break. At the beginning of the trial, the defense lawyers once again objected to the presence of media representatives and requested their exclusion from the courtroom. This proposal was supported by the lawyers of all the accused, who claimed that comments within the topic contained statements that did not uphold the honor of lawyers and needed to be addressed.
Responding to this motion, Judge Musa Yusupov stated:
"Misinformation comes from the misinterpretation of the information of journalists present at the trial by those who were not present at the trial. I would ask you to pay attention to this and not say anything about my honor or my dignity as a lawyer. Therefore, you are performing your lawyer's work by defending the accused. The state-appointed lawyers defend the accused if you are not doing so. In court, the accused must have a lawyer, so the lawyer will present the defense, and the prosecutor will fulfill their role. We hope that the official representatives of the media present here will explain to our fellow citizens who do not understand this," he said.
Lawyers present at the trial also mentioned that articles are being published on social media claiming that the victims requested the death penalty for the accused. The lawyers reminded that the death penalty has been abolished in Uzbekistan, and such a form of punishment does not exist.
To recall, in an article titled "Indian Businessman Gave a $33,000 Bribe for Approval of Another Invalid Medicine: Report from Another Hearing of the 'Dok-1 Max' Case," published by the online publication "Reka" in certain Telegram channels, the information was inaccurately interpreted, stating that "the death of 65 children was caused by the Indian bribery of $33,000 for 1 Max."
According to the information provided on the website, these funds were actually received from the director of Kuramax Medical LLC C.R.P. and his deputy, Marion Biotech Pvt. It was claimed that the goal was to cease inspection checks at the Ltd enterprise and obtain approval for the sale of another medication in Uzbekistan.
