President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Prime Minister Viktor Urban of Hungary have recently had a phone conversation to discuss topics related to the bilateral partnership as well as strengthening their cooperation, maintaining active political communication, accelerating joint industrial ventures, and supporting commercial and philanthropic endeavors, media reports.
Hungary's Prime Minister congratulated Uzbekistan's President on his victory in the early presidential elections and wished peace and prosperity for the Uzbek people. It was noted that the development of Uzbek-Hungarian ties in various sectors has been successful, with regular political consultations and the opening of the Uzbekistan embassy in Budapest.
The volume of mutual trade is increasing, and the European "OTP Bank" has entered Uzbekistan's financial market. Joint projects in agriculture, food industry, pharmacy, and other priority sectors have a total investment portfolio of $1.5bn.
During the call, they emphasized the importance of developing specific measures to accelerate project implementation and expand humanitarian and educational exchanges.
