The Government of Uzbekistan aims to generate cost-effective and eco-friendly electricity to meet rising demands. With this in mind, JSC "Uzbekhydroenergo" is beginning procurement for the first lot of five new hydropower plants, totaling an estimated 46.6 MW capacity, under a PPP agreement.
The Central Asian country aims to attract foreign investment for hydropower projects by implementing an internationally accepted framework.
Uzbekistan also seeks to establish a positive track record for PPP-based projects, allocate risks fairly, diversify the country's energy generation mix, ensure transparent tender processes, and generate competitive tariffs.
The JSC “Uzbekhydroenergo” seeks private developers or consortia to construct, finance, own, and operate a project during the concession period.
