Uzbekistan has moved up by eight spots in the 2023 UN Sustainable Development Goals Index, landing at 69th place out of 166 countries. This improvement in achieving sustainable development goals is being showcased as an example to the world.
At a recent meeting, Tanzyila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan, and Consuelo Vidal Bruce, Acting UN Resident Coordinator, discussed how Uzbekistan is working with the UN. They also highlighted the role of the parliament in meeting these goals.
Since 2020, a group in the parliament has been looking at how well the country is doing in reaching sustainable development goals. They make sure new laws also fit with these goals.
The meeting also talked about a big event called the Sustainable Development Summit. This is happening during the UN General Assembly in September 2023. The summit will set new goals for 2030 and encourage discussions among different groups.
