Belgium's Challenge Airlines has made the first flight and landing of a cargo aircraft at Ashgabat International Airport in Turkmenistan.
"This successful flight sets a promising precedent for future co-operation in aviation and is a testament to operational capabilities," the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium said in a press release.
The stakeholders discussed the importance of preparing an intergovernmental document.
"This potential agreement between the civil aviation authorities of Turkmenistan and Belgium will establish guidelines and protocols for smooth operations and ensure an effective partnership."
The European airline plans to operate flights via Turkmenistan on the Ningbo (China) - Ashgabat - Liege (Belgium) routes.
In 2016, a new international airport built by Turkish company Polimeks for more than $2bn was opened in the capital of Turkmenistan.
