Media reports indicate that farmers in southern Kazakhstan will receive additional coal for the upcoming winter season. This decision was made due to the severe frosts that destroyed a significant portion of their crops.
The Ministry of Trade and Integration's press service announced that greenhouse farms in the Turkestan region will be granted an additional 150,000 tons of coal starting in 2024. JSC "Shubarkol Komir" negotiated with various interested parties within the region to reach the corresponding agreement.
Greenhouses interested in this arrangement will receive coal at KZT 10,350 per ton, with shipments starting on January 1, 2024. They are advised to contact the Energy Department of the Turkestan region for more information on how to sign up for the contract.
On July 20, the Governor's Office reported that 148,800 tons of coal had already been shipped to the region, with 28,000 tons purchased by greenhouses.
During the previous winter, greenhouses in Shymkent and the Turkestan region faced significant challenges due to a lack of coal and poor quality. The coal could not provide sufficient heat to warm up the greenhouse, resulting in the death of most of the seedlings and millions of dollars in losses for farmers.
