The government of Kazakhstan has implemented stricter measures for foreign flights due to reported cases of an unknown illness in Egypt. The Ministry of Health has stated that the symptoms of this illness are similar to dengue fever, including high fever, vomiting, and dizziness. As a precaution, airports are now screening arriving passengers for fever and disinfecting aircraft cabins between flights.
Two Kazakh citizens have already contracted dengue fever while traveling in Thailand. Mosquitoes are known to carry this disease, so medical professionals advise wearing closed clothing and using insect repellent when traveling abroad.
Darya Azimbaeva, Head of the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control, explained that if individuals are identified with a high temperature, they are immediately taken to medical points at the airport for examination. If dengue fever is confirmed, patients are referred to infectious disease hospitals in the city for treatment.
