Recent media reports reveal that three cities in Kazakhstan, comprising Almaty, Aktobe, and Atyrau, are currently experiencing higher-than-normal levels of air pollution. This is due to unfavorable meteorological conditions that could lead to the accumulation of pollutants in the atmosphere, as predicted in the state of the air basin bulletin.
The forecast shows that air pollution levels are expected to increase, which can pose a risk to public health. Adverse weather conditions, like calm winds, fog, and inversion, can worsen the accumulation of harmful substances in the surface layer of the air, ultimately lowering its quality.
The message reports the importance of taking the necessary measures to minimize exposure to these harmful pollutants and safeguard public health.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the economic impact of air pollution in Kazakhstan had exceeded $10bn. Kazakhstan's Parliament member, Dinara Shukizhanova, has highlighted that major cities in the country have reached a concerning level of 60% air pollution.
