On July 23, the State Security Service of Uzbekistan reported on the detection of another attempt, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, involving bribery for admission and transfer to universities.
In Andijan, a 1996-born individual was arrested while receiving $19,000, promising to secure admission to the Andijan State Medical Institute. During the investigation, it was revealed that he was supposed to hand over $16,000 to the Deputy Dean of the university. The deputy dean was detained during the money exchange, and later, a university lecturer involved in the case was also apprehended.
In the Yukorichirchik district of the Tashkent region, a citizen was detained while receiving $12,500 for promising to arrange admission for two young men to the Department of Elementary Education at the Chirchik State Pedagogical University.
An employee of the Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute promised to ensure the admission of two applicants to the Faculty of Military Education at the university for $5,000. He was arrested while receiving $4,000.
In the Syrdarya region, a previously convicted resident of the Gulistan district promised a resident of the Fergana region to secure his admission to the Gulistan State University of Physical Education for $4,000. He was detained while handing over $3,900 and around $100
In another case, a resident of the Uchtepa district in Tashkent made an agreement with a native of the Khorezm region to facilitate the transfer of his son from the second year at a university in Kazakhstan to the third year at a university in Uzbekistan. He was arrested while transferring $1,600.
Earlier Daryo mentioned that during a meeting on July 17, Zoir Mirzaev, the mayor of Tashkent region in Uzbekistan, expressed concerns about the housing construction situation in the area. He criticized the corrupt practices involved in the sale of houses in Chirchik, as reported by the regional governor.
